We love to receive updates (and photos!) about the cats and kittens we have rescued and re-homed. We know that our supporters also like to hear about the success stories, so here are some of the updates we’ve received. If you have adopted a Lonely Miaow cat, please let us know how they’re doing.
Mr Bob Dobalina
|
Our little bundle of black fur, AKA Bob was so confident and full of character and energy when we brought him home from the Lonely Miaow that we thought perhaps a title, first name AND a surname might be more appropriate and fitting to his personality than just plain old Bob! So the new, much grander name of Mr Bob Dobalina was born ... and of course he even has his own song to go with the title which we sing to him on a regular basis (no, we're not crazy)! In fact the Lonely Miaow After a brief settling in period consisting of this tiny jet-black ball of energy climbing everything in sight (again the confidence and character!), and need we mention melting our hearts with his constant love, affection and personality, we decided to add another member to our family in the form of a black Labrador puppy. At just six weeks old and extremely cute and clumsy, Bob decided this new addition made for an ideal wrestling buddy to torment.... and the hilarity begins...
From the moment these two kindred souls met eyes they were inseparable. In playing, eating, sleeping and just chilling out, they never strayed far from one another. The vet told us they would bond stronger than a cat and a cat or a dog and a dog, and he wasn't wrong. People would come for dinner at our house and just end up watching Bob and Bella play-fighting together (Bob always won of course being slightly older, more agile and up against a bundle of clumsy puppy left feet!). Unfortunately for Bob, as he soon found out, Labradors grow slightly larger than cats (even those with a lot of confidence!), but Bella still to this day lets Bob take victory for old times sake now and again and good old confident Bob still insists on taking running leaps at the dog from the other side of the room no matter how much we try to discourage this behaviour! It's such a great joy to have animals in your life and home and I'd encourage anyone thinking of a dog and cat combo to go for it (especially if a kitten and puppy and can grow up together) - they'll get on just fine and they'll fill your life with so much happiness... plus you'll have an unending supply of free entertainment on tap! :-)

Gretel
|
Hi, my name is Gretel & I have a real 'rags to riches' story to tell you. I was rescued from my life under a hedge at about 4 months of age. I had spent all winter as a little kitten trying to survive & grow at the same time. I survived, but I am a bit smaller than most cats because of my tough start (that's why one of my nicknames is 'Shortie'). Although I didn't realise it at the time, when the people from Lonely Miaow rescued me, my struggle was now over. Phew! On one particular day in September 2007 a lady came to see me,. I was pretty shy of her but she said not to worry, you have no reason to be scared & would you like to come home with me? She said it had lots of trees and a warm sunny deck to lie in the sun. And most importantly, I would have a big brother who was very lonely & needed a Friend, just like I did!! My new home was a palace to me. I am treated like a princess and live in cat luxury. My big brother Wilbur gave me cuddles on my first day home and we played for ages. Our favourite game is chasie (which he always lets me win!) I earn my keep by waking Mum every morning early for breakfast, and supervising all the jobs around the house. She likes to call me ' Mama's Little Boo-Boo' and 'Fruity Spice' because she thinks I am so beautiful. So now I am a rich little cat because of all the love and attention I get. Thank you Lonely Miaow for rescuing me and finding me my home. You have brought a lot of happiness to my family, and me.

Ronon and Selene
|
They turned out to be different sexes than we originally thought but they are delightful and very close. They are so cute and totally rule our household. They are at home with my mum most of the time and play in the yard and trees all day long. When they are not playing in the yard, they are getting into all sorts. They are lovely natured and my old cats 13 & 12 love them to bits. They cuddle them all the time. Ronon is supposed to take over from my big boy who is now 12 years old but Ronon is scared of anything strange and runs under the house all the time so I guess he won’t be staunch like my big boy. Well that’ll be a bonus and save me hundreds a year on vets bills for cat fighting abscesses I guess.

Susy, Tigger and Willow
|
Hi,
My name is Susy Smith and I am the mother to two lovely girls, Tigger (centre) and Willow – see picture.
When I was 18months old I gave birth to Tigger and Willow. My owners at the time did not want me or my daughters (who were only a few weeks old), so we were pushed out of our home to fend for ourselves. Fortunately we were given a new temporary home by a lovely lady called Raewyn from Lonely Miaow, where my daughters and I were well cared for.
In July 2007 I met a couple called Sally and Mark. Initially Sally and Mark were looking for an older cat rather than kittens as kittens are adopted very quickly whilst older cats remain in foster care for quite some time. When Sally and Mark realised that I had a ready made family they adopted all three of us without question.
Since then my daughters and I have grown up in a loving, safe and well cared for environment. We have dry food to eat all day and wet food twice a day, with plenty of fresh water. During the winter we each have our own beds in front of a lovely warm fire. We have our own cat door to come and go as we please knowing that if the weather turns bad we can escape to the warm and dry inside. Once a year we are taken to the vets for a regular check-up and booster injections.
My daughters are now adult cats themselves and it is great to see how well they have grown up. They still chase each other around the house as if they were kittens! I am so pleased that we were kept as a family and all adopted together. I know that Sally and Mark love us as individuals and as a family. We all love Sally and Mark too.
Thank you Lonely Miaow for finding us such a lovely home. We hope that you can find such good homes for all the other cats and kittens that you look after.
Best Wishes
Susy Smith

I got this little monkey a year and a half ago from one of your foster homes on the Shore, she was only about 10 or 11 months old and already had 4 kittens. Abandoned by her previous owners and left to fend for herself and her 4 kittens, she's now reasonably comfortable with new people, although still not a big fan of humans. However, the ones she does trust, she's very affectionate towards. She's an absolute joy to have around and makes me laugh a lot.
