Who has the keys to our rescue centre - YOU DO!
One of the things we would really love to have is a rescue centre. It would not need to be anything fancy - a three bedroom house with a big backyard which needs a bit of TLC would be perfect. At the moment our rescuers can only rescue as many cats and kittens as they have room to keep at their own home (the cats and kittens are then moved to foster homes as soon as possible to make room for new rescues). If we had a rescue centre our rescuers could focus on rescuing as many cats as they have time to rescue after work. (Yep, everyone at Lonely Miaow is a volunteer so we all have to work during the day, to pay our own bills).
This is where YOU come in. We need your old keys - those keys everyone has tucked away somewhere which open unknown locks. If we get a good collection we can exchange them for cash at a scrap metal dealer. If you have some old keys that you no longer want, please send them to us at PO Box 125-138, St Heliers, Auckland 1740.
Why not start a collection at work or school? Keys are small so they don't take up a lot of space. If you get lots of keys (too many to post) please contact us for a place to drop them off to.
Do you regularly throw keys away at your workplace? Please contact us to see if we can arrange for someone to regularly pick them up from you.
5 September 2010: Thanks to everyone who has sent in their unwanted keys so far - we have over a kilogram of keys already!
